The MAC launches Art Competition for Primary Schools Autumn 2010

A Masterpiece for The MAC

In advance of opening in 2012, The MAC has created a Northern Ireland-wide primary schools competition to find twelve new masterpieces which will feature in The MAC’s very first published calendar.

The winning entries will also be displayed in The Masterpiece for The MAC exhibition in Belfast in January 2011.

As well as housing two theatres and four workshop spaces The MAC will have the largest purpose-built visual art galleries in Northern Ireland.

The Prize

1st Prize is £1000 worth of arts materials for the school and an exclusive site visit to The MAC for the winning pupil’s class.

In addition…

3 individual winners will be selected from each of the 4 categories with each winner receiving their own art box.

Categories:

  1. Primary 1 & 2 - Foundation
  2. Primary 3 & 4 - Key Stage 1
  3. Primary 5, 6 & 7 - Key Stage 2
  4. Special Education

The Details:

Before creating their own masterpiece, pupils will have the chance to consider some of our world-renowned artworks by artists such as Van Gogh, Lowry, Dali, Monet or Warhol.

All images will be provided within a specially created resource pack.

Entries must be 2 dimensional and created in paint, pencil, pastel, crayon or collage.
